Acknowledgements

I would like to acknowledge and thank the following people for their help and assistance in completion of this project.

Firstly to my lecturer, Paddy Madden, who has been a constant inspiration throughout its completion, and whose passion and enthusiasm for the world around us never fails to inspire.

Tom O’Donoghue, Kilkenny hurley maker, for allowing me to visit his workshop and to see and record him at work.

My neighbour and friend, Padraig Comerford, for sharing his own in-depth knowledge and creativity.
My mother, Mairead Brennan – herself a primary teacher – who assisted me in layout and design, and in researching this project.

And finally to my partner Gav, for holding the camera, making sure there was always paper in the printer, and last but not least making all those visits to Eason’s and Reads to fulfil my staggering stationery needs.

Thank you for reading – I hope you’ve enjoyed it.
